"Checking out the world of electronic music as presented by Sakis Gouzonis is like traveling on a journey to the most wondrous and mystical of places." - Kenneth Morton
Sakis Gouzonis is a multiple award winning composer, orchestrator, arranger, and producer of electronic music. His music is based on the idea of taking the listener on a journey, giving the listener a whole new experience. In addition, his music defies all borders and speaks to people of all nations and cultures.
In The Beginning
He was born to Nick and Frida Gouzonis in Thessaloniki, Greece. Thessaloniki, which is the second largest city in the country, has given Greece some of its greatest artists and thinkers. Two lovely brothers named George and Peter would follow. At the age of ten, Sakis and his family moved to the town of Elassona, which is located at the foot of Mount Olympus, the mythic place of the twelve Olympian gods.
The Early Years
Sakis had always dreamed of having his own musical instrument. In 1990, his dream came true. His parents bought him an electronic keyboard. He was so happy that he started playing music immediately. Sakis had the innate ability to play by ear, to improvise, to arrange music and to create compositions. At the age of sixteen, his parents bought him a semi-professional electronic keyboard. He would spend countless hours in his room creating sounds, composing, arranging, and playing music.
In 1996, Sakis released a compilation of twelve Christian hymns that he had arranged on his keyboard. The compilation was a big success! People from the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe sent Sakis a lot of encouraging letters. It was amazing the fact that many listeners wanted to prepay for his next compilation!
After finishing Senior High School, Sakis served in the Greek Army for one and a half years. During his service he was given the opportunity to perform for the General of the First Army. It was a great honor for Sakis.
In 1998, Sakis released one more compilation of ten Christian hymns. His second compilation was a big success too! Many people around the world were blessed. Greek radio stations began to broadcast his music.
In 2000, Sakis was asked to play keyboards in a band that was backing up Greek singer Costas Fragoraptis. Sakis's ability to play the keyboard very accurately left the studio audio engineer speechless! They released two successful albums. All songs were aired by Greek radio stations.
A year later, he began to work as an English teacher. To this day, Sakis has taught English as a second language to hundreds of children, teens, and adults in Greece.
In 2002, Sakis bought his first professional music workstation and all the necessary equipment in order to build his own home studio. It was a really hard task.
In the summer of 2004, Sakis moved to Athens to persue his artistic career. In Athens he continued to work as an English teacher and write his own music compositions.
